At 9:00 am May 29, 2012 a 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Parma – Bologna region of northern Italy. This aftershock earthquake has killed at least 17 people, over 300 injured and has caused widespread damage. This quake was felt in  the nearby countries of Austria, Switzerland, France and Germany. Northern Italy has been rocked by a 6.0 earthquake that struck on May 20, 2012 at 4:03 AM local time. An initial 4.2 fore shock and numerous aftershocks continue to rock the region. Widespread damage to older building has lined the streets with rubble. Thousands of people are afraid to go back to their homes or have no homes, authorities are setting up a tent city to accommodate them. At latest report there are now at least 7 deaths.
