Natural Resources Canada and the USGS has reported a 5.7 magnitude has struck off the coast of Vancouver Island BC at 12:05 pm Saturday February 4, 2012. The epicenter was located approximately 170 km (105 miles) west of Ucluelet and Tofino British Columbia or 337 km (209 miles) west of Victoria BC at a depth of 13 km. There were no significant injuries or damage reported and the earthquake did not trigger a tsunami. You can read the full earthquake details here.

Many communities on Vancouver Island reported weak to light shaking. Places that felt the quake are Port Alberni BC, Gold River BC, Courtenay BC, Nanaimo BC, Ucluelet BC and Tofino BC.
